Uzbekistan tours

Uzbekistan’s population consists mainly of ethnic Uzbeks, also known as Turkic ethnic groups, however there are significant minorities of Russians. About 90% of the population is Muslim. There are Orthodox Christians and Buddhists, Jews as well as Jews who reside within the country. As Central Asians, Uzbeks have a reputation for being warm and welcoming. It is common to greet people and ask questions about their families, health, and personal lives.

Uzbekistan trips are an ideal opportunity to sample the local cuisine and get some ideas back to you. A typical meal could include palov (rice mixed with meat, onions and carrots) or mutton baked in the form of a Tandir. Uzbeks also eat dumplings called manti and a local variety of Kebabs. Have a taste of Uzbek cuisine with some traditional black or green tea or drinking yogurt, also known as the ayran. While Uzbekistan is a majority Muslim country, it’s also secular. This means that you can enjoy locals wines from the region.

Uzbekistan is part of the Central Asian group between Asia and Middle East. Its neighbors include Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. Uzbekistan also has a coastline along the Aral Sea and the large but shallow lake Sarygamysh. The Kyzyl Kum (also known as the “red sand” desert) covers around 80% of the country. A small part of the Fergana valley has fertile land. The Uzbekistan mountains include the Tian Shan Range in the south of the country.

The bazaars in Uzbekistan are paradise for buyers. Here, haggling is not only a fashion of life and a fun laugh. The Tashkent markets, especially the Chorsu Bazaar, are great for finding bargains. Find Soviet memorabilia such as stamps, portraits of Lenin and uniforms for military and hats. There are also local souvenirs like intricately decorated pottery, colorful clothing, rugs and jewellery made from traditional silver. With its endless rows of fresh vegetables, smiley locals, and the beautiful bazaar in Bukhara, it is one of the most photographed destinations in the world.
