Origins:

As normally happens with lots of cat breeds, the origins of Russian blue cats are rather blurry and unclear, often embellished with additional legends than facts.

One of the latter, even goes so far as to assert these cats were the widely used pets of Russian Czars prior to Russian revolution. The state version, though, goes which they originated for the Archangel Isles in Russia and were eventually introduced in great britan from the 1860s where these folks were exhibited with the Crystal Palace as Archangel cats, often known as Spanish blue or foreign blue. The then so-called Archangel cat soon caught on in the united kingdom and Scandinavia where it was renamed Russian blue and actively bred until World war 2. These were officially declared a whole new breed in 1912 through the Cat Fancy Society, to avoid confusion with British Blue cats.

Through the 1940s on, these were also crossed with Siamese cats once in USA, These blue coloured cats were also developed until a whole new breed is made. These cats are called Modern Russian Blue cats.

Physical description:

Regarding their physical appearance, Russian Blue cats are well-built and fine-boned with graceful long limbs.

Their coat is short-specially suitable if you’re allergic-and smooth. Their own colour is due to the truth that both blueish grey in addition to silver-tipped hairs give them a standard lustrous look.
