Having a couple of new materials and production methods invented in the mid-20th century, a barrage of the latest frame styles soon followed suit and large round frames found they’d slipped off the stylistic radar. This wasn’t no more the line for round frames though. Oh no! Whether or not this would have been a nod on the intellectual heroes that had worn them decades before, or the fact they might be grabbed dirt-cheap second-hand, the hippy movement with the 60s adopted the fashion because unofficial frames of the peace loving movement. Now manifesting as sunglasses and opticals, big round glasses had doubly secured their devote popular culture history, being written into the stylistic history books within, not one, but two cultural revolutions.

And it’s the reality that this classic style can certainly still envision a graphic of refined, studious authority that’s meant big round framed specs have not strayed too far through the frame style peripheral. It’s why they’ve been the choice of thinkers and visionaries alike. Most of all, though, it’s why the frame style is coming back in a large way almost century after its first foray to the frontlines of fashion.

Big Rounded lenses are among the few true retro classics; An item of fashion history that could still pull weight today. As frames, they’re an all rounder. They are top-notch small , wirey, or massive and chunky. They’re able to down a peek which has a stamp of intellectualism, or they are able to invoke a sense care-free psychedelia. And while they aren’t always perfect for rounder faces, they do a fantastic job of suiting most face shape.
