Everyday Theology

Whenever the term “Theology” is mentioned, pictures of the seminary, thick theological books, Greek and Hebrew terms, along with other highfalutin expressions belly around one’s mind. It appears as though “Theology” is reserved for the “holy ones”, the “chosen ones”, and the intellectuals. If you are acquainted with the writings of Karl Barth, Martin Luther, Augustine, and so forth, you happen to be near to inner near to the group of friends of biblical scholars.

Considerably more if you can speak their language and is also capable of producing an academically accepted theological work. I have been previously trainees of your Bible School and Theological seminary. Both institutions have reduced the problem to get deeper insight to Church History, Systematic Theology and Biblical backgrounds. Yet even midst the lessons and classroom discussions, questions still roam over the internet. Are typical these true? Please do not misunderstand me. I’m a firm believer that this Bible may be the sole authority over life. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Being a regular mortal, I will be caught involving the whole world of reality and faith, and bridging the gap from to the other is quite a mental and spiritual feat. Yet, I think, too that God’s Spirit and grace are at make an effort to teach us beyond exactly what the mind are unable to comprehend.

Theology means study regarding God, from the Greek word “Theos” (God) and “logos” (study of). Depending on such, does is mean that Theology be learned? Can God be grasped by the human mind? Can God be described simply by words? If one features a doctorate degree in Theology, would this mean that, that person already a good grasped of God Himself?

I have met professors of various degrees, and that i have met simple folks with simple thoughts. Yet, comparing how they view God and express who God is usually to them, the first sort (most, although not all) might have a mouthful of jargon of expressions in the books… a Greek word there… a Hebrew term there… leaving their listeners at decrease in space. Alternatively, rogues, the straightforward ones, would discuss about it practical things they’ve experienced of God’s character. If for them God is great, chances are they’ll testify of how God provides on their behalf or has given them good things.

From whom would I listen more, to the academician or individual who has got the practical knowledge? This is a common proclaiming that “Experience is the best teacher.” Theory would only remain a theory unless it really is proven true by experiments or by real experience. In other words, Theology would just be mere thought of God, unless one has a real example of that truth about God.

God is definitely real, but unless that reality transcends your brain which is familiar with everyday situations, the conviction of these truth would never go deep in the guts and soul, nor he or she may convince others to imagine in these truth.
