Garage Sale Saturdays…The Hunt Is On!

Saturday’s “To Do” list starts off with GO TO Currently have!
Planning my route the evening before, testing my gps on my phone and circling the yard sale listings from the paper really are a Friday night ritual.
The neighborhood My home is in is a “Planned Community”. Which makes it pre-planned and strategically laid out. It’s separated into Sections and every section is presented by correspondence. The “P” section consists of streets beginning with the letter P: Perkins, Parking, Parkins, Penny. You get the idea! Within the P section, there are several retirees and young professionals. The W section is considered the rich and ritzy section of town Then this B section is older and sadly, more rundown. The R section is packed with young partners with children. The S Section is south of town and considered inside the boondocks simply because the lots are larger plus it feels more country. And finally, the C Section is when the canals, intracoastal, boats, boats and much more boaters live. Each section possesses his own characteristics and community. Even though we’re all part of the larger town, these “sections” develop over town to draw in a particular ambience. The region with plenty of children have 2 elementary schools and sidewalks throughout. storage unit auctions of town does not have any street lights and it is from the beaten track through the remainder of town. But, the city overall has regulations and rules and laws that we all make an effort to abide.

We’re allowed Two garage sales annually. We are forced to obtain a $5 permit per of these sales and our signage is grabbed and destroyed by noon on Saturday mornings. It’s not a conducive atmosphere to get a Garage Sale Business out of your home!
A lot of people have ignored all of the rules, communicated using their neighbors regarding their needs and plans and create a fairly good living putting on the yard sale event monthly! But when they get caught disobeying the guidelines, they feign innocence on the rules and promise to not ever repeat the process! But, a month later when things have calmed down again, there will suddenly be another garage sale! Most of the people in the neighborhood could care less and life proceeds!
About the Wednesday prior to Friday/Saturday Garage Sale rush, a listing of all sales happens within our local shopping guide, The Pennysaver. People list their address, date and time of sale plus a couple of “hook” items which will attract the throngs of super sale seekers. I faithfully pour in the Pennysaver dividing the sale addresses into town’s sections and plot my Saturday journey!
I leave for the sales until around 11am since most of those sales end by 1 or 2pm. Therefore, as soon as I buy on the sale, individuals are ready to put up for sale all of the their stuff for virtually any price you offer them. Since I am NEVER searching for anything in particular… just real deals, I have been able to purchase (without negotiation) entire rooms of furniture, enormous collections of old china and enough fabric to stitch clothes to get a third world nation! I purchased it approximately $5!!! I’ve got a weekly budget around $20 for yard sales and only maybe once or twice have I ever gone over that amount!!!
So, just for this weekend, I’m plotting out about 10 sales inside a 10 mile array of my home. I’ll leave at 11 am and stay back by 3pm i know….The rear seat of the car is going to be LOADED!!!!
Oh! And Happy Junquin’!!!
