Remember when finding comfort school meant purchasing a few notebooks, a brand new box of crayons, and new shoes? In case you wore a uniform university, you probably got some of those too; if not, you still have 1 or 2 new outfits. That was it.


Well, times have changed. The availability list now contains goods that used to be provided by the faculties – like scissors, glue and tissues. Every child requires a new backpack, notebooks, paper, pens (red, blue and black), glue sticks, ruler, tape, scissors, markers, folders along with a calculator. If you have two children so you shop the sales, you may still find yourself paying out greater than $100.00 in supplies alone. Which doesn’t even count the brand new clothes your kids “has to have” or fees which might be needed for art projects, lab costs, etc.

Don’t even get me going on the supplies, including furniture and appliances, your kids needs for college. Should it ever end?

1) Recycle – Verify everything you already have in your house. You probably have assorted crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc. already there the home. Put these together inside a pencil box and that should help save a few bucks.

2) Re-use – Kids believe last year’s backpack has got to go, however a quick trip from the automatic washer may give it new life.

3) Reduce – Does your son or daughter possess a notebook from recently which includes three pages of written material in it and 77 blank pages left? Did you find this notebook in the trash – or worse – the trash? Now is a good time to discuss waste and keeping it down by getting the most use possible from every item.
